The home had a small, closed kitchen that left the living room dark. The owners wanted an open space to cook and live in, without losing storage and with a design feature with character.

A closed kitchen opened up to the living room
We removed the wall separating the kitchen from the living room and created a single, bright, social space, with a backlit wooden slatted island as the centrepiece.

What we did
We removed the partially load-bearing wall with a reinforcing lintel, relocated the electrical and plumbing installations, and designed an island clad in wooden slats with a lower LED strip. Dark porcelain worktop, handleless units and warm indirect lighting.
The result
A single kitchen-living space, brighter and larger, with the island as the centrepiece that also works as a bar. All delivered on the committed timeline and at the agreed fixed price.
