The floor sets the character of the whole home. Here’s the quick comparison to get it right in your renovation.
Parquet and engineered wood
Warm and elegant, it adds value. It needs a little more care and isn’t ideal for very wet areas. It can be sanded and varnished to renew it.
Laminate
The best value for money. It imitates wood, resists scratching (look for AC4/AC5) and is easy to install. Not the best for bathrooms.
SPC vinyl
Water-resistant, warm underfoot and quiet. Perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and the whole home. It can even be installed over the existing floor.
Porcelain
The most durable and resistant, ideal for wet and high-traffic areas. Cold underfoot (unless with underfloor heating) and requires works to install.
Which should I choose?
- All-round use and water: SPC vinyl or porcelain.
- Warmth and design: parquet.
- Tight budget: good-quality laminate.
