Underfloor heating: is it worth it? Benefits, price and when to install

· 5 min read

Underfloor heating is the most comfortable heating system there is, and it’s installed more and more in renovations. Is it worth it for you? Here’s the plain-language answer.

What underfloor heating is

It’s a network of pipes (or heating elements) under the floor that warms the room from the floor upwards, evenly. As it works at a low temperature, it pairs perfectly with air-source heat pumps for maximum efficiency.

Advantages over radiators

  • Even comfort: no cold or hot spots; warm feet all the time.
  • More efficient: runs at a low temperature and uses less, especially with a heat pump.
  • Clean look: no visible radiators, freeing up wall space and decor.
  • Works with any floor: parquet, porcelain, natural stone or microcement.

When does it pay off?

It pays off especially when you’re already renovating and changing the floor, because the system slightly raises the floor level. If you’re touching floors or doing a full renovation, it’s the perfect moment to install it.

Indicative price

It depends on the m² and the system, but as a guide it’s usually between €50 and €100/m² installed. We give you a fixed price after the free technical visit.
